Air Traffic Halted at Miami International After Cargo Plane Incident

On September 6, 2026, all incoming flights at Miami International Airport were suspended following a cargo plane accident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported this on their airport status information platform.

Social media is abuzz with videos showing thick smoke rising from a plane bearing the Amazon logo on its wing, which seems to have ended up on a roadway.

21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time, stated the FAA in an email to Newsweek. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft had taken off from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The FAA intends to look into the matter and suggested reaching out to the airline for further information.

Details regarding possible injuries or fatalities remain uncertain at this stage.

Newsweek has contacted Amazon Prime, Miami International Airport, and Miami Fire and Rescue for comments and further updates.

This situation is developing with more information expected soon.
