PATTAYA, Thailand — After a lengthy deployment largely focused on supporting the Iran war, 5,000 sailors and Marines from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier have arrived in the resort city of Pattaya. This marks their first major break after nine months at sea.

On Wednesday, the casual atmosphere was evident as these service members swapped their usual military attire for casual beachwear, ready to explore Pattaya’s lively offerings.

Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet extended a warm welcome, presenting souvenirs to U.S. service members at a local hotel. The gesture underscored the city’s hospitality and appreciation for their service.

The arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln crew has brought a palpable sense of relief and joy to Pattaya, providing the sailors and Marines with a well-deserved opportunity to relax and unwind.
