Mercedes Moné Claims AEW Women’s World Championship

Three years ago, Mercedes Moné attended All In, observing the women’s division with interest. She considered joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Her debut later became a pivotal moment as she dominated the division. Moné won the TBS Championship by defeating Willow Nightingale, reigning for over 500 days until Nightingale reclaimed victory on December 31, 2025. This set the stage for their rivalry as Nightingale won the AEW Women’s World Championship and Moné triumphed in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

In a grueling battle on Sunday, Moné secured the AEW Women’s World Championship. She exploited Nightingale’s broken hand, using the Money Maker to win the match. Despite suffering a bloody nose from Nightingale, she persevered.

Nightingale, coping with her own injury, delivered a powerful suplex outside the ring and struck Moné with a pounce that hit the referee. Both competitors took advantage of the chaos, with Nightingale using a belt to strike Moné. However, Moné fought through these challenges and ultimately took control when Nightingale was overwhelmed. The referee ended the match as Nightingale could not continue.

Moné’s victory marks her first AEW Women’s World Championship. Her achievements in AEW already include a TBS Championship and two wins in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. Her next challenger might be imminent.

During the event, Thekla watched from above Wembley Stadium. Having recently returned to AEW programming, Thekla aims for a rematch. She previously lost her title to Nightingale at Redemption, remaining absent until Sunday. As All Out approaches, a showdown between Moné and Thekla seems possible this September.
