Duke and Duchess of Sussex Return to Britain

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their return to Britain, arriving with their children after leaving royal duties behind in favor of life in California six years ago.

The couple landed at Birmingham International Airport from Van Nuys, California, with Prince Archie, aged 7, and Princess Lilibet, aged 5. Their arrival was marked by a notable absence of police presence, as they opted to use their private security team.

Archie and Lilibet are set to begin schooling in Britain come September. The family plans to live in a private residence outside London while maintaining their California home. Despite the move, they remain nonworking royals, indicating no shift in their formal roles within the royal family.

King Charles III, along with Prince William and Princess Kate, was informed of Harry and Meghan’s plans. Reports highlight that while King Charles is pleased at the opportunity to see his grandchildren more often, William and Kate express concern regarding the extended stay.

Royal experts shared insights with Fox News Digital, revealing Prince William’s surprise at the family’s return. The Duke had noted Harry’s wish to spend more time in Britain, but did not expect a full family relocation, creating challenges given the current state of their relationship.

Previously, Prince Harry had expressed concerns over security issues, stating he could not foresee bringing Meghan and their children back to the UK due to these concerns. His remark to the BBC in May 2025 followed an objection over diminished police protection.

Entertainment reporter Stephanie Giang-Paunon provided coverage on this development.
