On August 25, Oklahoma Democrats are set to choose their candidate for the U.S. Senate. The decision will come down to nurse N’Kiyla Jasmine Thomas and attorney Jim Priest. Both are new to the political arena and emerged as top contenders from a five-person Democratic primary held in June.
In the primary, Thomas led with over 45 percent of the votes. Despite securing the highest share, she did not achieve the majority required to bypass a runoff. Priest earned nearly 24 percent, landing him a spot in the head-to-head matchup.
The winner of this contest will challenge Rep. Kevin Hern, a Republican, in the November election.
Voting takes place today, August 25, at 2:00 p.m. EDT, marking a critical moment for Oklahoma City and state elections. Locations are set up and ready following earlier preparations seen in June’s primary elections.
