Bubba Watson confronted a fan during the second round of LIV Golf Indianapolis, creating a notable moment at The Club at Chatham Hills. Watson, along with Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau, was caught on video approaching a fan who shouted while Westwood prepared for his shot. The fan called out “Bryson, Bryson,” interrupting the game.
Watson, a two-time Masters champion, challenged the fan to speak up, asking, “Oh, you don’t want to say anything now? Say something, I’m looking at ya, say it.” Despite the disturbance, Watson finished with a 2-under 68, which was a surprising position for him this season.
Before this week, Watson had only achieved one top 10 finish in his 11 events on the circuit in 2026. He also missed the cut at The Masters, his only major championship appearance this year. While the fan’s interruption drew criticism, it is not LIV Golf’s main concern.
In April, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced it would cease funding beyond the 2026 season. Following this, LIV Golf canceled the LIV Team Championship in Michigan, moved the season finale to Indianapolis, and reduced the prize purse from $20 million to $10.1 million. Additionally, LIV faces a $1.2 million lawsuit from Fresh Tape Media for unpaid dues related to preseason media day production.
LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil recently disclosed that an undisclosed investor was secured, allowing the circuit to continue into 2027. However, specific details about this investor have not been revealed. The circuit plans to introduce ‘LIV 2.0,’ featuring 10 tournaments, with five in the U.S. and five internationally. Players will hold a majority of equity in this new structure.
