Authorities are conducting a homicide investigation following the discovery of a 59-year-old man found dead on the street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. Chicago police reported the incident occurred early Thursday morning.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was discovered on the 300 block of West 76th Street. Police noted the man had lacerations and trauma to his face. This discovery took place shortly before 5:15 a.m. Emergency services transported him to UChicago Medicine, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled to occur on Friday to determine the precise cause of death. Meanwhile, detectives from the Wentworth Area are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this death. Currently, no suspects are in custody, as per police statements.
