A 49-year-old motorcyclist lost her life on Wednesday night after being hit by a sedan on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, according to Chicago police.

The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. The motorcyclist was traveling south along the 400 block of South Lake Shore Drive in the Loop neighborhood when struck by a gray sedan headed in the same direction, officials stated.

Emergency services transported her to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was declared deceased.

The sedan’s driver, a 25-year-old, remained unharmed and was taken into police custody at the accident site.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit is currently examining the incident.
