Jim Caviezel is preparing for his next movie role in Ghost Soldier, where he believes viewers are eager for heroes. Fox News Digital has an exclusive look at the trailer.
The movie follows a reclusive former Special Forces soldier and weapons developer, played by Caviezel, who returns to action when a foreign corporation targets his hometown. With his training and weaponry, he leads a personal battle to defend his community.
Jim Caviezel portrays Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald in Ghost Soldier. In the intense trailer, Caviezel is seen defending his people and land against a corporation.
Caviezel shared with Fox News Digital that audiences are keen to watch characters who embody faith, duty, and personal responsibility.
“People want to see someone do the right thing, with all the odds stacked against them. We saw this phenomenon with Sound of Freedom. Give them a hero who stands for what’s true and audiences show up. That hunger is still there,” Caviezel said.
He expressed an immediate connection with his character, Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald.
“I connected with Fitz right away because he’s a hero. He’s a Green Beret who serves his country, and he lives by a moral code he won’t break,” he noted. “He can’t walk away from an injustice, whatever it costs him. I love a good action film, but Fitz’s moral compass and his hunger for justice made me say yes.”
Caviezel has a history of portraying characters who sacrifice for their beliefs. He played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ and Tim Ballard in Sound of Freedom.
He emphasized that taking such roles showed him that doing the right thing “usually costs you something.”
“I want to play men who’ll sacrifice for what they believe. That’s the measure of a man, and it’s the story I keep coming back to,” Caviezel said.
Caviezel commented on a “resurgence” in Americans protecting their homes and communities, which resonates with the film’s themes.

He remarked, “Most people resonate with protecting their home, family, and community because we were created with the instinct to protect what we love. Over the past few years, we’ve seen ordinary people standing up again, doing the right thing when it’s hard. That’s the resurgence I see, and this film speaks right to it.”
Ghost Soldier premieres on November 6. Alongside Caviezel, the film features Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt, and Shea Whigham.
