Rep. Gomez, who has served in Congress since 2017, is a prominent member, known for establishing the Congressional Dads Caucus, which emphasizes active fatherhood both at home and in Congress. Gomez is married with one child.

In a similar case, Rep. Chuck Edwards from North Carolina faced sexual harassment accusations from two young staffers this past summer. The Ethics Committee recommended censure for Edwards, leading him to forgo re-election, despite denying the allegations.

Earlier reports indicated that Gomez was seen kissing a younger congressional aide during the summer of 2023. In June, Gomez admitted to past personal mistakes, stating, “Years ago, I made personal mistakes outside my marriage that have caused real pain to my wife and family. Although my actions were consensual in nature and haven’t violated the law or House ethics rules, that doesn’t diminish the impact that these mistakes have made on those I care about the most.”
