Ceyair Wright Leaves Bengals for Acting Career

The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive back Ceyair Wright as an undrafted free agent in April. Wright previously played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. His commitment to football encountered a crossroads with his other passion: acting.

Recently, the Bengals announced that Wright chose to step away from the team “to pursue other opportunities.” Consequently, he was placed on the Exempt/Left Squad list. Dan Hoard, the Bengals’ radio commentator, shared on social media that Wright departed to follow opportunities in television and film.

Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor commented on Wright’s decision. “I don’t know how to properly define it for him. He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity,” Taylor mentioned. He acknowledged that Wright was at a crossroads between two fields he loved and decided to take another path.

During his statement, Taylor also praised Wright. “He’s a great kid, comes from a great university. We wish him the best. He was fun to be around. He really competed hard for us and was ascending as a player.” Wright’s passion for acting is not new, as his filmography includes notable roles.

Wright portrayed LeBron James’ son in the movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and appeared in “Training Day.” He has also been seen in television series such as “Grown-ish” and “2 Broke Girls.”

Following Wright’s departure, the Bengals signed Matthew McDoom as his replacement.
