USS Abraham Lincoln’s Mental Health Record and Allegations Addressed

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported a low number of mental health cases on the USS Abraham Lincoln, despite allegations of poor conditions aboard the aircraft carrier. The Lincoln has supported missions related to the conflict with Iran for over 260 days.

Claims about shortages, plumbing issues, and crew distress have been denied by officials. CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper highlighted the ship’s mental health record after visiting the vessel. He expressed admiration for the crew’s teamwork and resilience.

My time aboard USS Abraham Lincoln was awe-inspiring. You would beam with pride witnessing their camaraderie, teamwork, and resilience. The Lincoln has among the lowest number of mental health cases among the Navy’s 11 active carriers.

Cooper addressed previous concerns about food and hot water as outdated, noting they have been resolved. He acknowledged long deployments are challenging, with varied responses from sailors.

In his statement, Cooper credited leadership for prioritizing mental, physical, and spiritual health. He commended senior leaders for their commitment to crew resilience.

I applaud Lincoln’s leadership for making mental health and crew resilience a leadership priority.

President Donald Trump noted the Lincoln will be replaced soon, as the USS George Washington heads to the Middle East. Allegations about conditions on the Lincoln included food shortages and plumbing issues.

Sean Parnell criticized media reports, identifying them as misrepresentations of a challenging deployment. He emphasized the genuine difficulties faced by military families used for media narratives.
