DoorDash Driver Assaulted in North Carolina

Christen Phillips, a mother of three, is in a hospital recovering from multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds. She sustained these injuries after being attacked with a baseball bat during a food delivery for DoorDash. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office reports that the suspect, Stanley Shockley, 44, is in custody.

The assault occurred in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Reports indicate that Phillips was stopped at an intersection when she honked at the vehicle in front of her, urging it to move. The suspect, Shockley, was reportedly driving that vehicle. After the incident at the intersection, the situation quickly escalated.

Phillips arrived at her delivery destination, exited her car, and completed the delivery. As she was returning to her vehicle, Shockley allegedly attacked her with a small wooden bat. He then fled the scene. Despite her severe injuries, Phillips managed to drive herself to a hospital.

She described her injuries in a social media post, stating, “I had multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds and blood and cerebral fluid draining from my left ear for hours. My cheek bone on my left side is also fractured.” Phillips has undergone several surgeries as a result of the attack.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Shockley’s arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. Sheriff Chris Thomas praised the public’s assistance, acknowledging that the investigation posed challenges but resulted in identifying and arresting the suspect.
