Police have initiated a death investigation following the discovery of images and videos from a residence in Philadelphia. These materials allegedly show the bodies of two missing women.

The investigation centers around 44-year-old Eugene Horsch, whose home in Olney has been under scrutiny by authorities since June. Horsch is currently detained on charges related to firearm possession and holding counterfeit DEA and FBI credentials, as per local reports. No additional charges have been filed against him as of Wednesday.

During a news briefing on Wednesday, Philadelphia Police Inspector Ray Evers shared that a thorough examination of digital evidence had uncovered images and videos. These visual records seemed to depict two deceased women. The women have been identified as Maribel Fresses and Gabriella Amarando. Fresses vanished in 2018 at 27 years old, while Amarando disappeared in 2012 at the age of 22.

“I’m not going to get into exactly what I saw,” Evers remarked. “It’s real dark. What we saw is these two girls alive; there is a period of time, and what appears to us is that they are deceased.”

Evers also highlighted that authorities have served more than 95 search warrants at the site and its associated contents. The FBI has joined efforts in this investigation. To date, investigators have retrieved about 600,000 images and 70,000 videos from hard drives found at the location.

Evers noted the volume of digital evidence as “astonishing” and pointed out, “This investigation will take time.” He described the investigation as “new territory” for the Philadelphia homicide unit.

Evers elaborated on the complexity of the case saying, “Usually, when we have a homicide investigation, we have a body. We have body parts. This time we do not.”
