Secretary of State Marco Rubio humorously declared his affection for Pop-Tarts, while dismissing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s diet, during an interview with podcast host Katie Miller. Rubio, along with his wife Jeanette, appeared on “The Katie Miller Podcast.” Miller inquired about Kennedy’s reported diet, consisting primarily of red meat and fermented vegetables.
“This is a crazy diet,” Rubio quipped. He expressed disbelief at the idea of traveling with coolers of sauerkraut and noted the impracticality of such a lifestyle. “I’m not going to travel the world with a cooler full of sauerkraut,” he remarked.
Despite his jest, Rubio acknowledged support for Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement. Jeanette playfully countered Rubio’s stance, saying he enjoys sweets like Pop-Tarts, to which he responded, “No, I don’t eat Pop-Tarts every day.” Rubio further joked about the iconic snack, calling it one of America’s great innovations.
During the podcast, the conversation touched on Rubio’s social media presence, bolstered by humor and memes. A viral meme featured Rubio seated on an Oval Office couch during President Trump’s 2025 meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The image, initially unsettling to Rubio, became a humorous online sensation. “The meme thing, it was interesting because when it first came out, I hated that picture,” he shared on Fox News’ “My View with Lara Trump.”
Rubio reflected on his political journey, noting transitions from being a Trump critic to a trusted cabinet member. He is viewed as a potential candidate for the 2028 presidential race. In a recent poll in New Hampshire, Rubio was 10 points behind Vice President JD Vance in a speculative matchup.
