Former DNC fundraiser Lindy Li has raised alarms about the Democratic Party’s severe financial issues. During an appearance on ‘My View with Lara Trump’, she claimed the party is deeply in debt. Kamala Harris’s extensive campaign spending and a shift toward progressive socialism are central reasons why donors hesitate to lend support.

Li expressed doubts about the party securing funding for another presidential bid by Kamala Harris. She noted that internal divisions, fundraising difficulties, and a weak field for 2028 contribute to these challenges. According to Li, political donors view their contributions as investments. They withdraw support from candidates they believe mismanage funds.

Li criticized the Democratic Party’s post-election accountability efforts, describing them as ineffective. She argued that donor dissatisfaction contributes significantly to the broader fundraising problems. ‘There’s been no accountability,’ she said. ‘The report issued after the election was insubstantial and avoided addressing Kamala Harris as an unsuitable candidate.’

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaigns spent approximately $2.5 billion, including funds from the pro-Harris Future Forward super PAC. Federal filings reveal that Harris’s campaign committee alone accounted for $1.18 billion in disbursements during the 2023-24 cycle.

Li argued that the Democratic Party’s financial woes stem from their adoption of socialist policies. This shift has driven several donors away, including Li herself. ‘They are financially strained and even used their headquarters as collateral,’ she remarked. ‘The normalization of socialism should not be part of the agenda.’

Li also critiqued party leaders for capitulating to the left-leaning faction, suggesting that Sen. Chuck Schumer’s characterization of Democrats as a ‘big tent party’ was strategic to avoid being challenged by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Li described this competition as unwise and said, ‘Americans already dismissed it in the 2024 elections.’
