Minocqua Brewing Company, located in Wisconsin, sparked recent controversy by proposing a ‘half-price beer day’ to commemorate Senator Mitch McConnell’s death. This follows earlier criticism for offering free beer on the ‘day’ former President Donald Trump passes.

In an Instagram post on Monday, the brewery announced plans for reduced-price beer, blaming the long-serving Kentucky Republican for ‘about half of all America’s current problems.’ The brewery humorously referred to McConnell as ‘Rigor Tortoise,’ indicating they expected news of his demise following a period of speculation.

According to the Office of the Attending Physician, McConnell, who is 84, has been out of the Senate for over a month due to a fall at his home, leading to a hospital stay. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear called for McConnell to prove his fitness for office or consider resignation, highlighting the senator’s prolonged absence from Congress.

The brewery criticized Beshear, labeling him a ‘do-nothing’ Democrat for not calling a special election before August 3rd after McConnell’s fall. They stated this allowed McConnell’s seat to remain unfilled until January, according to Kentucky state law.

The brewery’s statement noted that ‘half-price beer day’ would commence when McConnell’s death is confirmed, aligning with their promise to serve beer at reduced prices on that occasion. Meanwhile, ‘free beer day’ is reserved for ‘someone more special.’

In response to the campaign, the brewery promoted T-shirts for ‘half-price beer day,’ encouraging their supporters to wear them when the event eventually occurs.

Minocqua Brewing Company previously hinted at offering free beer if Trump were killed—without explicitly mentioning his name. Currently, the brewery is embroiled in a legal battle over the potential revocation of its permit.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the Wisconsin Department of Revenue sent a notice in July regarding plans to revoke the brewery’s permit. This action followed allegations that the brewery transported canned beer from Illinois without necessary permits, violating tax regulations. The brewery’s owner, Kirk Bangstad, argued this was an overreaction, stating the alleged violations didn’t justify shutting the business down.

The permit revocation was scheduled to take effect on Tuesday. However, a Department of Revenue spokesperson confirmed the brewery filed an administrative appeal, preventing immediate permit revocation.

Bangstad also founded the Minocqua Brewing Company SuperPAC. It aims to remove Republican officials who, according to the PAC, perpetuated false election narratives and downplayed COVID-19’s severity.

Fox News Digital sought comments from Minocqua Brewing Company, Governor Beshear’s office, and Senator McConnell’s office but received no immediate replies.
