The Free DC Slate includes a range of candidates, with Sam Bonar and Chioma Iwuoha being prominent members. Their success reflects a growing appetite for change among the electorate in Washington, D.C.

A decade ago, Sam Bonar adopted a character named “Filiblaster” for advocacy efforts.

In an effort to promote D.C. statehood, Bonar engaged in creative activism, including a “Shark Tank”-style demonstration outside the John A. Wilson Building.
