FBI Captures Fugitive in Jamaica
Elaine Angene Escoe, accused of a $32 million COVID fraud, was apprehended in Jamaica. She used a fake identity, ‘Harley Newman’, before being brought back to the United States. FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted that Escoe’s capture marks the fourth from the ‘Most Wanted Fraudster’ list in five weeks.
Los Angeles Influencer Arrested for Violating Release
Influencer Adva Lavie, also known as Mia Ventura, was arrested in Beverly Hills. Authorities allege she removed her ankle monitor while awaiting trial on felony burglary charges. Her release has been revoked, and a bail review hearing is set in Van Nuys.
Lavie was also apprehended on a Riverside County warrant for a separate grand theft case. Records state she unlawfully took over $11,000 worth of items from the 2025 Coachella Music Festival, including a Rolex and Louis Vuitton products.
Lavie allegedly stayed with a man at an Airbnb during Coachella. After a dispute, she reportedly stole luxury items from his Tesla Cybertruck. Surveillance footage and subsequent identification confirmed her actions.
Long-Standing Allegations and New Arrests
Previously, Lavie faced accusations of using dating apps to target wealthy individuals, posing as a companion to gain access to homes. She stole valuables from victims in various California locations.
Charged with multiple felonies, including grand theft and residential burglary, Lavie pleaded not guilty. Released on an ankle monitor, she was later rearrested.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman aims to prove Lavie misused online relationships to commit theft. He stated her exploitation of trust has ended, and those charged crimes will be brought to light at trial.
Fiancé Arrested
Stephen Cloobeck, Lavie’s fiancĂ© and a billionaire entrepreneur, was arrested on separate charges. Authorities accuse him of trying to prevent witnesses from testifying against Lavie.
If convicted on all counts, Lavie could face over 11 years in state prison. This case underscores the broader effort to curb fraudulent activities and safeguard public trust.
