End of Temporary Subsidy May Lead to Increased Medicare Drug Premiums in 2027

Medicare drug coverage premiums are projected to rise starting in 2027. This follows the announcement by the Trump administration to terminate a temporary subsidy. This subsidy had been lowering monthly premiums by an average of $16.

Insurance providers are currently analyzing the potential effects of this change. However, there is uncertainty about the extent of the increase. It is also not confirmed if the premium rise will impact all Medicare beneficiaries uniformly.
