However, Hernández admitted, “If I was active, I probably wouldn’t have gone anyways.” This candid remark drew criticism from fans, notably a letter from a fan named Larry who questioned Hernández’s motives.

“Mr. Hernandez, … it seems clear that you are just a disrespectful, spoiled, pampered, entitled little brat.”

Instead of ignoring the letter, Hernández shared it online with Larry’s unredacted address, captioning it humorously, “SO to Larry for the nice letter! Next time, at least make it handwritten, you nice sir!”

Hernández’s decision mirrors that of teammate Mookie Betts, who will also skip the visit. Betts previously declined a White House visit with the Red Sox in 2019, indicating his differing stance from President Trump’s policies, especially on immigration.
