The anticipation for the 2027 MLB All-Star Game in Chicago is building as the Cubs unveiled the official logo during recent festivities. Scheduled for July 13 at Wrigley Field, this marks the fourth time the historic stadium will host the Midsummer Classic, previously held there in 1947, 1962, and 1990. Notably, Wrigley is the only active stadium to host four All-Star Games.
Two other stadiums, Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium and old Yankee Stadium in New York, have also hosted the event four times. The All-Star Game logo prominently features Wrigley’s well-known marquee, with typography inspired by the marquee’s letters. Incorporating elements from Chicago’s signature flag, a six-point star serves as the hyphen in “All-Star.”
During a ceremony at Wrigley Field on July 17, 2026, Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong revealed the logo. The announcement came as Chicago looks ahead to hosting while learning from the current All-Star events in Philadelphia. Cubs President of Baseball Operations, Crane Kenney, expressed enthusiasm and preparation as they aim to replicate and adapt practices for the upcoming event.
Kenney noted the importance of welcoming both local and international fans, while managing logistical challenges. The league takes charge of essential elements like ticketing and event activation. Drawing from experiences such as the 2016 World Series and the COVID-shortened 2020 season, the Cubs aim to ensure a successful All-Star Game.
The upcoming event faces uncertainties, such as the potential of a lockout due to the expiring collective bargaining agreement. Kenney stated that plans continue without disruption contingency, hoping negotiations will prevent any impact on the event.
Philadelphia offered insights into managing an All-Star experience with its downtown hub. Chicago plans similar activities centered around Wrigley, with some larger events like a fan village expected in the downtown area. A host committee will assist with financial and philanthropic elements for the All-Star Game, featuring notable individuals like actor Bill Murray, musician Eddie Vedder, and 2016 World Series champion Anthony Rizzo.
Kenney emphasized the opportunity to showcase recent renovations around Wrigley Field. “We want to keep the excitement in Wrigleyville to highlight our ballpark,” Kenney said, regarding it as a significant moment given it’s been over three decades since the last All-Star event there.
A ceremony including MLB greats like Andre Dawson, Billy Williams, and others, paid tribute to Wrigley’s All-Star heritage. Each base at the ceremony represented one of the ballpark’s previous All-Star Games, culminating in home plate symbolizing the 2027 game.
