A Musical Legacy
Born in Texas, Willis co-founded the Village People and served as the original lead singer. He contributed significantly to the band’s music, writing many songs. Willis was renowned for his stage persona, often dressing as a police officer, and for the iconic single “YMCA.”
In 1979, Willis left the Village People aiming to pursue a solo music career.
