A coordinated search effort by multiple agencies is focused on locating a 22-year-old suspect linked to a series of violent crimes across state lines. The incidents include multiple highway shootings near Arrowhead Stadium and a tense standoff with police.
The FBI’s Kansas City field office has offered a $25,000 reward for details that lead to the capture and conviction of Oscar Sanchez-Munoz. He is described as having a mixed White and Hispanic appearance, weighing 184 pounds, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, and has brown hair, brown eyes, and a notable tattoo on his right forearm.
Authorities urge the public to consider Sanchez-Munoz as “armed and dangerous.”
Sanchez-Munoz is sought in connection with at least six shootings across several states, stemming from violent encounters in Kansas and Missouri. A warrant was issued in Kansas after allegedly firing at a vehicle on June 11 in Wyandotte County, accompanied by another warrant for aggravated assault, with a $100,000 bond set.
The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) suspects Sanchez-Munoz in five Tuesday night shootings in Kansas City, Missouri. The events occurred along Interstate 70, close to Arrowhead Stadium during FIFA World Cup events.
These crimes resulted in one death, serious injury to another individual, and multiple injuries. Victims included an Uber driver shot while transporting fans to a World Cup match, who is expected to recover.
A dramatic standoff unfolded in Independence, Missouri, leading to a house fire. The house was thoroughly searched by investigators, K-9 units, and Missouri State Fire Marshals after the fire was controlled. Sanchez-Munoz was not discovered, though the vehicle involved in the Tuesday night incidents was recovered.
No official motives have been disclosed by authorities as of Saturday. The FBI and KCPD encourage people to stay alert and contact emergency services immediately if Sanchez-Munoz is seen. Information can be submitted through 911, kccrimestoppers.com, or the local FBI office.
