President Trump showcased a new Boeing 747 in red, white, and blue, donated by Qatar, which will become the latest Air Force One. This announcement, met with criticism from lawmakers, took place at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on a Friday. Trump described the aircraft as a ‘flying White House’ with unparalleled luxury.
The introduction of this luxury jet replaces two planes in service since 1990, which experienced maintenance issues. Trump stated the hangar had to be built due to the new plane’s larger size.
Trump expressed that the classic red, white, and blue colors represented America and deemed the baby blue scheme outdated. He pointed out the need for a change after observing that other nations’ planes appeared more modern compared to Air Force One.
The introduction of the plane aligns with Trump’s efforts to redesign key presidential landmarks, such as the Oval Office and White House ballroom. Trump also announced plans for the new Air Force One to lead a flyover in Washington on July 4, accompanied by F-22 and F-35 military planes.
