President Trump’s Rebranding of Department of Defense

President Donald Trump visited Orly Airport, south of Paris, on June 17, expressing a critical view on the current state of military affairs. He has frequently complained that the U.S. struggles to win wars, attributing this issue to factors like ‘wokeness’ and ‘political correctness.’

In an effort to address these concerns, Trump initiated a rebranding of the Department of Defense, renaming it to the Department of War. This move signifies a shift in focus and strategy.

Pete Hegseth, the department’s secretary, strongly backed this change. Hegseth emphasized that the department’s new mission is to ‘fight to win,’ engaging in warfare with ‘maximum lethality’ rather than being constrained by legal restrictions.
