A tragic shooting unfolded at ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital in Delaware on Tuesday, resulting in one fatality and another person injured. The assailant remains at large, according to Wilmington Police Chief Wilfredo Campos.
The incident was reported at 3:30 p.m. Officers arrived at the scene, discovering the victims but not the shooter. Respecting the privacy of the families, no information was shared about the identities or the condition of the survivor.

The incident led to significant law enforcement presence outside Wilmington Hospital. Mayor John Carney disclosed that hospital staff secured themselves in rooms during the law enforcement sweep of the facility’s floors. He described the day as a calamitous one for the city.
Governor Matt Meyer mentioned his wife, Dr. Lauren Meyer, was on duty at the hospital during the attack. He commended the hospital workers for their courageous life-saving endeavors.
U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt of Delaware, briefed on the developing situation, expressed her concerns and gratitude for the prompt law enforcement actions, while offering prayers for the affected community.
Wilmington, home to over 73,000 residents, is often termed America’s “corporate capital” due to its numerous large corporate headquarters.
