Six preservation and cultural heritage organizations have called for a halt on a statue garden project in West Potomac Park, pending Congressional authorization. The coalition filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over plans to transform parkland with a large statuary garden.

The park has recently undergone significant seawall restoration work. The Trump administration is considering this location for the proposed National Garden of American Heroes.
