Houston Man Charged After Boarding Flight with Fake Pass

Abdulrahman Oluwatumike Oriyomi, 25, faces a felony charge after allegedly using a fraudulent boarding pass to board a United Airlines flight at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. According to court documents, this incident led to the aircraft returning to the gate, delaying the flight for around three hours.

On May 18, Oriyomi attempted to board a flight to Los Angeles, first succeeding at a TSA checkpoint. However, he failed to scan a boarding pass at one gate. Moving through the airport, he approached another gate where United employees were occupied. He proceeded down the jetway and boarded United Flight 469.

A witness reported Oriyomi sitting beside her, but later noticed he occupied an assigned seat. As the plane taxied, flight attendants learned someone occupied a restroom onboard. Upon contact with Oriyomi, they found he lacked an assigned seat. The passenger manifest showed no authorized traveler under Oriyomi’s name.

When the plane returned to the gate, multiple law enforcement agencies responded. A fraudulent boarding pass image on Oriyomi’s phone showed missing vital information and lacked a QR code. A Bush Airport representative confirmed the document’s falsity.

Court records stated Oriyomi couldn’t have obtained a valid pass without paying for the reservation. Prosecutors asked for bond conditions, like surrendering passports, avoiding airports, refraining from possessing firearms, and electronic monitoring if needed.

The case is ongoing in Harris County’s 180th District Court. Court records haven’t mentioned an attorney for Oriyomi yet.

United Airlines, Houston Airports, and the TSA haven’t commented.
