U.S. Coal Subsidies Target Revival with New Plants and Aid

The U.S. government plans to allocate over $800 million to boost coal power, as the industry faces challenges in the current market.

President Donald Trump announced at a White House event that these funds will support the establishment of new coal-fired power plants in Alaska and West Virginia. Additionally, they aim to sustain over a dozen existing plants struggling across 11 states, including locations in Maryland and Arizona.

The Trump administration’s strategy focuses on rejuvenating the coal sector, which has not seen new plant construction since 2013. These efforts are part of a broader plan to support traditional energy sources, even as cleaner alternatives gain traction in the energy market.
