Drake’s “ICEMAN” album remains on top of the Billboard 200 chart for a second week, with four songs in the top 10. The lead track, “Janice STFU,” tops Billboard’s first “Songs of the Summer” chart for 2026. However, competition is expected as the summer continues.

Midyear Pop Charts Overview

The “song of the summer” designation marks tracks that dominate summer playlists. While unofficial and often based on general appeal, Billboard creates a scientific approach by introducing the Songs of the Summer chart. The chart measures the performance of hits on the Hot 100 from late May to early September. Last year, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” held the title.

Songs on the chart must not have been major hits in previous summers. Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” climbing to No. 19, does not qualify this year. Drake’s ICEMAN album features prominently, securing seven of the 20 spots on the inaugural Songs of the Summer chart. But as ICEMAN’s momentum fades, new releases like Olivia Rodrigo’s album and its single “The Cure,” debuting on the Hot 100 and Songs of the Summer at No. 5, may challenge this dominance.

Taylor Swift’s upcoming “I Knew It, I Knew You,” part of the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, is expected to impact the charts. With preorders starting, significant movement is likely upon its release. Currently, Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” and “So Easy (To Fall in Love),” Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might,” and Ella Langley’s country hits continue to rise.

Top Albums

Drake achieved a unique feat, landing the top three albums recently. His expected drop, “ICEMAN,” holds the No. 1 spot, while his surprise releases, “HABIBTI” and “MAID OF HONOUR,” slip to No. 7 and No. 8. This shift facilitates rises for Ella Langley’s “Dandelion” at No. 2, Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide,” and Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem.” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and “Number Ones” also climb. K-pop highlights include BTS’s “ARIRANG” and Le Sserafim’s “PUREFLOW,” marking its debut in the top 10.

Top Songs

The current top 10 features familiar names: four Drake songs, two Olivia Dean tracks, two from Ella Langley, and one each by Bruno Mars and Olivia Rodrigo. The chart reflects repetition, a theme consistent with the previous week. Last week’s debut surge saw Drake set a record with 42 songs in the top 100, now reduced to 29. In the past, only singles that found success via sales and airplay appeared on the Hot 100. Now, streaming has reshaped the landscape with deep cuts and blockbuster hits. The challenge remains to find a more accurate measure of a song’s popularity that resists manipulation.
