The New York Knicks began their quest for a championship title, which they haven’t won since 1973, with a game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. The Spurs held a narrow seven-point lead at halftime, leading to a closely contested second half and a thrilling fourth quarter.
During the intense fourth quarter, an unexpected incident occurred. An enthusiastic fan tried to capture a memorable selfie with Spurs’ player Victor Wembanyama. This fan ran onto the court, capturing the attention of the audience.
The fan emerged from the sideline opposite the team benches and sprinted into the Spurs’ offensive area. Security personnel quickly intervened, removing the fan from the court without any physical contact occurring between the fan and the players.
This interruption halted the game for about a minute, after which it resumed with a jump ball. Security escorted the fan off the court through a baseline tunnel.
In other game highlights, Knicks guard Jalen Brunson limped off to the locker room when an incident with Spurs forward Harrison Barnes put stress on his knee. Brunson came back in the second quarter with his knee bandaged, but later seemed to injure his ankle when a Spurs player stepped on him. Despite these challenges, he continued playing.
Brunson showcased a strong performance, ending the game with a total of 30 points, making him the top scorer for the Knicks.
The Knicks secured a 105-95 victory over the Spurs, notching their 12th playoff win in a row.
