Authorities in central Alabama are conducting a search for four inmates who escaped from the Perry County Correctional PREP Center in Uniontown. The escape occurred on May 30, 2026, and was reported by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement agencies received alerts regarding the escape around 1 a.m. local time on Saturday. The sheriff’s office identified the escaped inmates as Marquavious Billingsley, Jaden Christopher Maxwell, Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., and Kevin Gunn. However, the details surrounding how they managed to escape have not been disclosed.
The inmates are from Dallas County, Alabama, and were held at the PREP center under an agreement with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. PREP stands for Parole and Probation Reentry Education and Employment Program Center.
The charges against these individuals vary and include murder, first-degree robbery, breaking and entering vehicles, first-degree escape, first-degree assault, and promoting prison contraband.
“The safety of Perry County residents is the top priority,” stated Perry County Sheriff Roy Fikes. He assured that deputies and assisting agencies are actively involved in locating and apprehending the escapees. An investigation into the incident is also in process.
Authorities advise anyone with information on the whereabouts of the escaped inmates to call 911 immediately. They warn against approaching or attempting to apprehend the individuals for safety reasons.
