Trump’s Endorsement for Pamela Evette
Former President Donald Trump has expressed his support for Pamela Evette, the lieutenant governor of South Carolina, in the state’s GOP gubernatorial primary. This endorsement comes as she competes against U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Mace and other contenders.
Recent polling indicates Evette is currently leading. This marks a shift from earlier in the year when Mace had the advantage. Trump has a history of endorsing against Mace, but he has backed her for reelection in 2024, praising her as a “strong conservative voice.”
On Friday evening, Trump shared his thoughts via Truth Social. He described Evette as a “Highly Respected and very popular” figure in South Carolina politics, emphasizing her unwavering support for his agenda. Trump recalled how Evette was the only candidate to endorse him when he announced his 2024 presidential campaign.
He also noted that Henry McMaster, Jr. will possibly run alongside Evette as lieutenant governor if she wins. Trump concluded his statements with enthusiasm for South Carolina.
“Pam has my Complete and Total Endorsement — SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump stated.
Reactions from Mace and Evette
Evette responded to Trump’s endorsement, using X to extend her gratitude. She credited Trump’s initial presidential run as her inspiration to enter politics, highlighting her admiration for his business-inspired approach to governance.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace acknowledged Trump’s contribution to the country and South Carolina. She stressed her ongoing respect for him, despite his endorsement of Evette. Mace emphasized her stance on transparency, particularly concerning the Epstein files, as a potential factor in Trump’s decision.
“South Carolina deserves a Governor who answers to her people, not to the establishment,” Mace asserted.
