Major Takedown in Texas: FBI Arrests Over 276 for Child Exploitation

A significant joint operation between the FBI and Texas authorities has led to the arrest of more than 276 individuals suspected of child exploitation. In addition, 89 children have been rescued, officials announced on Friday. This operation, named Operation Soteria Shield, is part of the broader agency initiative, Operation Iron Pursuit. It focused on tackling online sexual exploitation, abuse, trafficking, and the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in North Texas.

FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized, “Every single day this FBI is moving more aggressively than ever before to destroy child predator networks and save innocent victims all over the country.” He expressed satisfaction with the recent achievements of FBI Dallas and their partners. Their work marks a significant milestone in their ongoing mission.

“Protecting children from those who seek to exploit them is among the most important work we do in law enforcement,” said Dallas Police Department Chief Daniel Comeaux.

The operation took place during March and April, targeting those exploiting children via online platforms, social media, messaging applications, and other digital tools. A total of 91 law enforcement agencies across Texas were involved.

Patel remarked on the success of the operation, highlighting the number of young lives saved and future crimes prevented. He pointed out the startling numbers: over 6,940 child victims located since last year — an increase of 144% — and nearly 3,000 child predators arrested over the same period, marking a 70% rise.

Earlier in the month, the FBI disclosed the arrests of more than 350 child sexual abuse offenders under Operation Iron Pursuit, a comprehensive nationwide effort conducted in April. This initiative aims to locate child victims of sex abuse and apprehend child sex predators across the United States.
