U.S. Establishes Field Hospital in Kenya for Ebola Exposure

The U.S. military is constructing a field hospital in central Kenya aimed at caring for Americans exposed to Ebola. This facility will become operational on Friday, with an initial capacity of accommodating up to 50 patients. Officials from the administration announced this on Thursday.

There is criticism from Ebola experts regarding the decision not to transfer infected Americans to hospitals in the United States for treatment. Instead, those needing additional care will likely be sent to Europe. This move contrasts with practices during previous outbreaks where patients would receive treatment within the U.S.

Photographs depict members of the Doctors Without Borders Ebola response team securing protective suits and face shields outside a hospital in Mongbwalu, Democratic Republic of Congo, illustrating ongoing efforts against the Ebola virus.
