Laura Clery recently shared a harrowing experience that she described as the “most terrifying night” of her life. The comedian found herself in a life-threatening situation at home alone with her two young children.
In a video posted on Instagram, Clery, 39, detailed how her “biggest fear came true” when she was “very seriously hurt and stuck.” A 600-pound refrigerator fell and pinned her against the counter. She expressed gratitude to God and the first responders for rescuing her.
“I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe right,” she wrote on social media. “It was impossible to get off, and I could feel myself losing consciousness. My kids were in the house. I genuinely didn’t know if I was getting out of that alive.”
She was preparing for bed when the massive appliance suddenly collapsed on her. Fortunately, her phone was in her pocket, enabling her to call 911. She acknowledged the critical timing by saying, “Thank God it didn’t fall on my kids. It took three firefighters to lift it off me. I’m still shaking.”
Clery shared clips from her rescue, revealing how firefighters carried her from the house to an ambulance. In the footage, she praised the first responders while wearing a neck brace, noting the traumatic nature of the incident.
The comedian expressed relief and gratitude, stating, “Thank God it didn’t fall on my kids. It took three firefighters to lift it off me. I’m still shaking.” She highlighted how the pain disappeared after receiving medication and commended the firefighters for their swift and heroic actions. Their decisive response involved breaking through her garage door to reach her and carrying the heavy refrigerator away before her condition worsened.
Clery remarked on the potential outcomes of the incident, expressing overwhelming gratitude for escaping without broken bones and for her children’s safety. “I can walk… I’m so lucky!” she affirmed, applauding the responders as “calm, kind, and absolute heroes.”
