Comedian Patton Oswalt recently expressed criticism towards “Real Time” host Bill Maher. Oswalt pointed out what he perceives as Maher’s attempts to appeal to President Donald Trump. Oswalt believes Maher is mistaken in thinking he can find common ground with Trump without becoming a target.
Oswalt shared these thoughts with SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah. He compared Maher’s strategy to that of other hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, who are known for their anti-Trump stance. Oswalt explained, “Colbert and Kimmel… Trump hates them, but he hates them because they don’t love him. He wants them to love him, and then the minute they love him, he has zero respect for them because, deep down, he hates himself.”
You have to stick to your principles. In the long run, it pays off. Anyone doing business with Trump often regrets it because they face destruction.
Earlier this year, Trump criticized Maher on Truth Social after Maher continued to make anti-Trump comments. This followed their previous dinner at the White House. Trump criticized Maher for joking about China ending hockey in Canada.
Maher defended himself by stating that Trump misunderstood his joke. He noted that Trump described their dinner as a “waste of time” and accused Maher of being nervous during their meeting.
Maher responded to Trump’s complaints by stating, “I never stopped criticizing him. I never said I would.” Maher explained that despite Trump’s criticisms, he stands by his approach.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to representatives for Maher’s “Real Time” show but did not receive a response.
