DOJ Investigates Voter Fraud in Michigan and Maryland Primary Ballot Issues

Harmeet Dhillon, U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, is involved in a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into voter fraud in Wayne County, Michigan. This investigation highlights instances of fraudulent voting and non-compliance with the Help America Vote Act.

A recent mix-up in Maryland’s primary ballots has prompted renewed Republican calls for a federal review of the state’s voter rolls. The error involved approximately 400,000 primary voters requesting mail-in ballots, resulting in them receiving incorrect ballots. In response, the Maryland Freedom Caucus is demanding an audit by the federal government.

The caucus issued a statement calling for the release of Maryland’s voter rolls to the federal government to identify the sources of the mistake. They caution against reissuing another 400,000 ballots without proper differentiation between the first and second printings. The caucus emphasized transparency and accuracy, advocating for one vote per person.

Maryland’s conservative Freedom Caucus has accused Democrats and the State Board of Elections of undermining confidence in the June 23 primary. They claim that mail-in ballots were sent out incorrectly, potentially suppressing votes.

“The Maryland Democrats and the bureaucrats at the Board of Elections are using voter suppression tactics,” the statement read.

According to Maryland State Administrator of Elections, Jared DeMarinis, the state is diligently working to eliminate doubts about the accuracy of the mail-in voting process. With over 500,000 requests for mail-in ballots, DeMarinis stated that replacement ballots would be sent out to ensure integrity.

DeMarinis assured transparency and ongoing communication with affected voters, vowing to protect the integrity and accuracy of the election process. The state aims to verify, open, and secure elections.

The vendor responsible for the error, Taylor Print & Visual Impressions (TPVI), Inc., acknowledged the mistake and apologized. They stated that corrective measures are in place to prevent duplicate voting, with only corrected ballots accepted for counting.

The error impacted ballots requested before May 14. Voters who downloaded ballots were not affected, highlighting the importance of maintaining election integrity and accuracy.

In pursuit of election integrity, the Republican National Committee (RNC) is actively scrutinizing Maryland’s voter rolls. The RNC initiated a lawsuit in December, arguing that Maryland has failed to properly maintain its voter rolls and comply with federal requirements.

The lawsuit alleges discrepancies in voter registration numbers, with some counties reporting more registered voters than adult citizens. The RNC asserts that Maryland’s voter rolls should be updated for accuracy and transparency.

The complaint also highlights federal law requirements for maintaining and updating voter rolls, accusing Maryland of failing to meet these standards. Similar actions have been pursued in other states, including Hawaii and New Jersey.

Fox News Digital reached out to the RNC’s election integrity unit for comment. Eric Mack is a writer covering breaking news.
