Filming in the rugged Texas terrain presents challenges, according to actor Cole Hauser from “Dutton Ranch.” During a recent appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” he revealed a significant safety concern that once halted production. Hauser, joined by co-star Kelly Reilly, mentioned encountering thousands of rattlesnakes during filming.

“Eight months, 3,400 rattlesnakes,” Hauser told Clarkson, addressing the alarming presence of the snakes in Fort Worth, Texas. Kelly Reilly noted a particular location where a “[rattlesnake] den” shut down filming as director Christina found dozens of rattlesnakes.

We actually were going to go from there at night and got turned away. Christina found 40 or 50 rattlesnakes,” Hauser shared.

Taylor Sheridan’s productions often involve tough filming conditions. Michelle Pfeiffer, starring in Sheridan’s “The Madison,” shared her experiences on the LA Times podcast. She described filming in Montana and Texas with minimal facilities.

Pfeiffer noted the absence of standard comforts. “You may as well be in a tent,” she stated, describing the lack of amenities like plumbing and air conditioning. She emphasized the challenges such as no real bathroom, trailers not being available due to 360-degree shooting, and enduring extreme temperatures.

Pfeiffer further explained, “There was really no place for us to sit.” She recounted the trial of acclimating to the environment, including the cold winter and intense sun in the summer. Adjustments such as requesting a heater or umbrella took time as the crew adapted to the set conditions.
