Florida Man Arrested in Connection with Father’s Disappearance

A man from Florida, identified as Andres Bahamon, was arrested following the uncovering of suspected human remains at a property in Marion County. Detectives were investigating the disappearance of his father, 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada, who was reported missing on May 16. His last sighting was on May 7.

Authorities began to suspect foul play in Bahamon-Prada’s disappearance, prompting them to pursue it as a homicide investigation. The investigation began when a family member noted that Bahamon-Prada, who lived with his 25-year-old son in Dunnellon, had not been seen since early May.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bahamon initially claimed he last saw his father on May 7, asserting that Bahamon-Prada had mentioned an unknown person was picking him up. Subsequently, Bahamon-Prada’s silver 2007 Infiniti M35 vanished from the property and remains missing.

“Bahamon is believed to have played a role in concealing or removing his father’s body,” the affidavit notes.

The investigation intensified when the victim’s mother suggested that Bahamon might have killed his father. This assertion came after an encounter at a local store where Bahamon reportedly said he thought his father was “dead and deserving of his fate.”

Upon investigating the Dunnellon property on May 18, deputies discovered shattered glass doors, a shell casing on the porch, and suspected bloodstains. Additionally, freshly disturbed dirt was found in the backyard.

A photograph allegedly sent by Bahamon to his mother in Germany depicted a man resembling Bahamon-Prada lying motionless by wooden steps, with a noticeable red stain near his head. This further fueled the investigation.

Detectives obtained a search warrant, leading to the discovery of a rolled carpet buried in the disturbed dirt. The smell of decomposition was evident, and suspected human remains were found inside the carpet. The remains have yet to be positively identified.

Bahamon has been charged with tampering with evidence related to the missing-person inquiry. The search for the missing 2007 Infiniti M35 continues, as authorities believe it may hold crucial evidence in the case.
