Gilgeous-Alexander’s Standout Performance and Playoff Interview Highlight Thunder’s Journey

The opening game of the Western Conference finals presented a challenge for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Competing against the San Antonio Spurs, led by Victor Wembanyama, the defending champions faced a tough opponent. To keep their hopes alive, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander needed to deliver a top-notch performance.

In Game 2, Gilgeous-Alexander rose to the occasion by scoring 30 points on 12-24 shooting and providing nine assists. His efforts helped the Thunder tie the series, setting the stage for the next encounter in Texas. Yet, the postgame discussions among fans and spectators focused less on the MVP’s performance and more on his peculiar interview.

During the interview, Gilgeous-Alexander was asked about Isaiah Hartenstein’s defense on Wembanyama, who had previously scored 41 points against the Thunder. Although Hartenstein’s defense was strong, Gilgeous-Alexander surprised viewers with an unexpected response. He remarked, “I’m not sure if it was good, to be honest.” When prompted to clarify, he eventually conceded with, “It was alright. It was good. It was good.”

What seemed to be an attempt at humor left many viewers puzzled. However, later that night, Gilgeous-Alexander addressed the confusion during a press conference. He explained that he initially misunderstood the question, but quickly corrected his response upon realizing his mistake.

As the series progresses, the Thunder aim to see if Hartenstein can effectively contain Wembanyama in Game 3, which will take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
