Deion Sanders Faces Scrutiny Amid Colorado Buffaloes’ Struggles

The Colorado Buffaloes have encountered difficulties recently, losing three consecutive games after an initial 2-0 start. This performance has sparked questions regarding Deion Sanders’ position as the team’s head coach.

Sports commentator Dan Dakich expressed doubts about Sanders’ effectiveness. On his podcast, “Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich,” Dakich described the situation as problematic.

“The truth of the matter is this is a mess,” Dakich remarked.

Earlier enthusiasm for Sanders’ successful start has waned. Dakich suggested that the program’s foundation might be unstable, comparing it to fragile structures.

Dakich’s criticism isn’t solely based on the Buffaloes’ record. He highlighted the lack of respect among players for Sanders and his coaching team as a significant issue.

Reports of misconduct among the players add to the criticism. After suffering a 41-7 defeat by Northwestern, Sanders dismissed several players for inappropriate behavior, including laughing in the locker room despite the defeat.

“It’s not the dismissal that’s surprising. It’s the fact that players felt comfortable enough to laugh,” Dakich pointed out.

“In a well-disciplined program, such behavior is unacceptable,” Dakich added.

Sanders, who led the team to a 9-4 record and a bowl game in 2024, faces challenges after key players like his son Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter moved to the NFL. Last season saw the Buffaloes finish with a 3-9 record. Despite a 2-3 standing now, the outlook remains challenging with tough opponents on the horizon.

Upcoming games include hosting No. 12 Utah, No. 18 Oklahoma State, and No. 22 Houston. Sanders will seek to address the issues and rally the team forward.
