Fatal Shooting In Auburn Gresham: Elderly Woman Dies After Domestic Dispute

A 70-year-old woman was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in Chicago’s South Side following an argument that escalated between her and a 63-year-old man. The incident occurred inside a home on the 1900 block of West 83rd Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, as reported by Chicago police.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., a verbal confrontation ensued between the two individuals, which turned violent when the man pulled out a gun and fired at the woman. She suffered gunshot wounds to her neck and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released yet.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday to gain further insight into the shooting’s circumstances. Police recovered a firearm at the location, and the man involved was arrested. As of Wednesday night, charges were still pending.

The incident is suspected to be domestic-related, and Calumet Area detectives are actively investigating.
