Craig Carton criticized investigative reporter Pablo Torre for highlighting Tim Tebow in a report about Life Surge on his show, The Craig Carton Show. Torre claimed that the Christian-focused organization enlisted Tebow in a business model that allegedly pressured individuals to pay large sums for advice, offering little return on investment.
Carton acknowledged Torre as a talented investigative journalist but objected to the implication that Tebow was aware of the alleged misconduct. He stated that Tebow should not be implicated unless there is clear evidence of his involvement. Carton remarked, “Tim Tebow doesn’t deserve to be dragged into this unless you got him nailed. And if you don’t have him nailed to the cross on this story, you have defamed him. And if I’m Tim Tebow, I find that to be actionable.”
Tebow responded by pausing his association with Life Surge. He expressed concern about the allegations and mentioned that his team is conducting an investigation. Tebow told The Gainesville Sun, “I think the allegations are extremely serious, and it’s something that we take very serious.”
Tebow spoke at 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025, according to a report by Mother Jones, which collaborated with Torre on the investigation. Tebow was also scheduled for similar engagements in 2026.
Carton did not challenge Torre’s findings but criticized the use of Tebow’s name, suggesting it advanced Torre’s career. He emphasized the need for a thorough legal investigation into Life Surge’s actions and the potential financial harm they caused. Carton remarked, “That would be awful if that’s happening. But how dare you sully the name and reputation of a man who has only done things for others?”
Carton contended that Torre’s report placed Tebow in a difficult position, forcing the former athlete to clarify his stance publicly. Carton said, “When you go down that road and you sully the reputation of somebody who’s dedicated his entire life to service, that is a slippery slope that I want no part of.”
Torre attended an event hosted by GQ Sports and ESPN, raising questions about his focus in reporting. Carton firmly urged Torre to ensure that his allegations are substantiated, warning against associating unverified claims with Tebow’s name.
