Debi Mazar, known for her role as publicist Shauna Roberts in HBO’s ‘Entourage,’ recently described the set environment as toxic, particularly after giving birth to her second child. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Mazar discussed the ‘testosterone-fueled environment’ she faced, pointing out that executives criticized her weight post-pregnancy.
In response, Doug Ellin, creator of ‘Entourage,’ expressed his disapproval of Mazar’s statements. He addressed the claims via social media, labeling them ‘disgusting.’ Ellin insisted that neither he nor anyone significant on set ever discussed Mazar’s body. He mentioned making comments about the physiques of stars Adrian Grenier and Jerry Ferrara but acknowledged these comments were misguided.
Ellin challenged accusations of a toxic environment, urging people to consult the women involved in the show, many of whom he claims remain friends. He emphasized Mazar’s casting was based on talent, not appearance.
Mazar’s experiences were detailed further in The Sunday Times interview. She contrasted the first season’s ‘joy-fest’ with a shift to a testosterone-driven atmosphere by the third season. Despite feeling judged for her weight, Mazar maintained professionalism.
‘Entourage’ aired from 2004-2011, following the journey of a burgeoning actor and his childhood friends in Hollywood. Mazar reprised her role in the 2015 movie adaptation.
