Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey Prepares to Run for Second Term

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, a Democrat, is seeking her second term after her inauguration on January 5, 2023, in Boston. During the ceremony, held in the House Chamber at the Statehouse, she made her inaugural address soon after being sworn into office.

As she launches her campaign for re-election, Gov. Healey faces no opposition in the Democratic primary. However, she will soon discover her Republican opponent for the general election. Currently, Mike Monogue, CEO of Abiomed, is leading the polls against Brian Shortsleeve, a former Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority administrator, ahead of the Republican primary.

Massachusetts is known for its Democratic leanings, making Gov. Healey’s bid for re-election appear promising. Polling stations close at 8 p.m. EDT, and you can check live election results through Decision Desk HQ.
