George Santos, a former Congressman, has been permanently banned from Kalshi, a prediction market site. This decision follows an investigation into allegations of insider trading related to betting markets.

According to Kalshi, several enforcement actions have been taken against those suspected of insider trading. George Santos’s ban resulted after he did not cooperate with the investigation.

The investigation revealed Santos had shared posts on social media expressing his excitement to attend Trump’s State of the Union earlier this year. However, he simultaneously placed bets on Kalshi suggesting that he would not attend.

Santos responded on X, stating, “Thanks for the lifetime ban from your gambling platform. Let’s see how much longer you guys are around for.”

Kalshi also took steps against Laurie Buckhout, a Congressional candidate from North Carolina, who reportedly wagered on her own political campaign. Additionally, billionaire Stephen Cloobeck faced actions after betting on a gubernatorial run he later abandoned in California.

The crackdown arises amid concerns from election integrity experts that prediction markets might disrupt the upcoming November elections.
