Army Helicopter Landing: Investigation Underway After Training Mishap

An unplanned landing by a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter occurred in the Colorado foothills west of Denver. The incident involved a helicopter from Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office reported that the aircraft carried four individuals at the time. Luckily, no injuries were recorded. Initial reports from two Army officials confirmed this.

An Army spokesperson labeled the incident as an ‘aviation mishap’ during a training exercise. The helicopter belongs to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment stationed at Fort Campbell.

The Army is currently investigating the incident. They issued a statement regarding the situation: ‘The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) is aware of the aviation mishap on August 25, 2026, near Denver, Colorado, during routine training operations. The command is committed to the safety of personnel and takes training incidents seriously. As the mishap is under active investigation, no further comments or information are available.
