The anticipated return of Aaron Donald to the Los Angeles Rams remains unclear. NFL insiders have speculated on his comeback, but Coach Sean McVay hasn’t confirmed any specifics.
McVay addressed the topic following the Rams’ first preseason game, acknowledging that Donald’s return has not reached a definitive point. Despite multiple reports suggesting Donald’s imminent return, McVay stated, “We are not at that point quite yet.”
Donald, a 10-time Pro Bowl player and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, has been away from the game since 2023. Reports indicated that Donald wished to maintain his high performance level rather than appear diminished in pursuit of another Super Bowl ring.
McVay emphasized, “He earned the right to say he knows himself… Am I able to stack back-to-back days? Am I able to do some of the different things?”
Donald wants to return, and the Rams are eager for his comeback. However, McVay noted the decision ultimately rests with Donald, stating, “If he puts himself in a position where he says yes or no, he has earned the right to have clarity on that.”
McVay remains hopeful for Donald’s return but refrains from setting any deadlines. The situation remains open-ended, with respect for Donald’s timing and decision.
